I had just gotten my qualification with the Jihamix helmet, which is a big bulging visor that allows you to train your weapon systems and see all your flight data wherever you look. I was focused in the merge on trying to get a radar acquisition of my flight lead, potentially get a shot off but it didn't work out how I'd hope. So I opted to continue to roll inverted and pull the aircraft down in a split-ass maneuver,. And as I executed that, the G-bucket kicked in, which was designed to prevent mild overstress of the wings when you're in the transonic flight region. so about to break the sound barrier.
