"We have kind of rejected metaphysics, ethics from real conversation and subjugated them all under what is called science in a scientism," he says. "The only reason people do things that we would call bad or evil is because their situation is bad." But the problem is you can have people in a terrible situation being a very virtuous person - just the situation doesn't change that. There's something more there. The ethical order then needs to be ordered to God. And so from revelation, we do morality, which is the theological, I guess, mother of ethics, higher than ethics as it is working with revelation.
