The Nazis were basically rehabilitated. The top leaders of the Nazis were executed or imprisoned, but most of the Nazi leadership was remained intact. US brought more than 1,000 Nazi scientists to the United States secretly and worked with them against the Soviet Union. But publicly at least, we were all taught that fascism was an evil that could never, ever, ever be allowed to come back to Europe or anywhere. Now when the Ukrainian military funded, financed, armed and really led by the Pentagon, it now becomes a thorny issue.
