Is There a Critical of Selectivity in Human Protection?

I think ithinkis this charge of selectivity is often misplaced. It often points to a real concern, which is that powerful states tend to give priority to addressing atrocity threats in situations where they have the most at stake. That's ethically problematic and politically problematic as it undermines whatever international consensus there might be on human protection. So becomes an issue of prioriization. And this issue of prioritization is one that i'm presently exploring in work with james Patterson.
