How to Decipher Trends?

Trent: We buy things going up and we sell things going down. Could you maybe flesh out trend? Is it a particular duration of trend? What has to happen to challenge the trend? Because we live in a dynamic, resetting, daily resetting world. Well, for example, interest rate markets turn to not trend on a short horizon as well. However, there could be really big secular trends. It's a very complicated subject. Honestly, I feel like where are some places we can fish for trends? And there are some places where I just don't know how to decipher trends.
