GiveWell and Open Philanthropy
GiveWell is an organization that tracks over $100 million a year to the charities it recommends. The idea of Open Philanthropy is also to do as much good per dollar. It's just less into making sure things are evidenced back, and more into what we call hits-based giving. So you might make 10 grants and nine of them might fail embarrassingly; then one of them might be such a big hit that it makes up for everything else.
