The Imperfection of the American Experiment
I want so much for the work we do as historians to be seen as healing the nation rather than destroying the nation. I agree that that imperfection is something that was part of this American experiment from the beginning. And by setting higher standards or saying that we could do better, I think that's because we in fact love and care about the nation,.
