The Differences Between Groups of Patients With Admitting Diagnostic Codes for C. Diff Colitis

This was a retrospective cohort study looking at patients in NIS from January 2016 to December 2019. The only adjusted outcome found to be significantly different between groups was infectious complications, which actually had an odds ratio of 0.42. That's really surprising, considering the iliostomy group was much more likely to undergo minimally invasive surgery and you would expect fewer infectious complications. It's hard to say, but certainly raises some eyebrows.
