The Effects of Obstructive Sleep Apnea on Pregnancy

Obstructive sleep apnea is a sleep-related breathing disorder and it's characterized by repetitive closures of the upper airway. There may be a number of reasons that contribute to an increased chance of obstructivesleep apnea developing during pregnancy including weight gain, fluid retention and nasal secretions. If left untreated this can lead to a number of other issues including daytime sleepiness impaired quality of life worsening blood pressure and even raise the risk of heart attack and stroke.
