The End of War
From that moment in the episode, there is an undercurrent of darkness. The men of easy company had seen and done terrible things. And so dick is left thinking, what do i do with my life? I'm a soldier, and i should go to the pacific. So it's a lovely ending. You talk about the darkness. If some of thatt is captured in the scene where winter says good bye to shifty powers who's shipping out. It just shows that war is never clean cut. There's never a clean cut ending, a finish to it. And this is the residue of war, and it's affecting all of them.
