How to Improve Your Mental Practice
There's what's called an acquisition retention paradox with physical practice. The faster or more easily you learn something, the faster and more easily you tend to forget it. Study suggests same might be true for mental practice as well. When variable and interleaved mental practice are combined with a night of sleep, you're not only able to better perform the skills you've mentally rehearsed but new related skills you've never practiced as well.
