The Myth of the Unconscious
Jung postulated the existence of what he called a collective unconscious. Jung's thesis was that the unconscious compensates for consciousness. In Ulysses, we are moving through the dream realm of the biographical unconscious with archetypal echoes beginning to come up. When we get to Finnegan's wake about the time when we were Jung and easily Freudened, the power of the archetypes take right over.
