I think a single dilation is key, but people tend to be overly generous with both the depth of dilation and sometimes with dilating twice. And that creates a large track around the catheter that can cause continued bleeding. I only use the second dilator if I literally can't pass the catheter after one. That's not my preferred way to do it. You know, being careful to sort of like make your incision as close to the wire as possible along the wire.
