What Makes Long Distance Runners Better Than Everyone Else?
i was interested in animals and animal behavior. I happened to find out about this laboratory at a place called balstate university. It was the very best exercise physiology lavin in the world, headed by gnm david costell. And so i went out there and went to graduate school. We did a studyan, interesting study, to look at elite long distance runners. They had a high percentage of what we call slow twitch on muscle fibres which are also called fatigue resistant fibres. So they were able to run a very long distance without becoming fatigued,. Whereas world fast sprinters have a high amount ofwhat we call fast switch fibres that rely on fat as its major fuel
