The Evolution of VO2 Testing
Back in the 50s, it could take several days to do a VO2 max test. The accuracy was very good, but they certainly could not measure a lot of people. Small groups that you're able to get through a eight-week training study or whatever it might be are limited by numbers. And when you have small studies, then there's lots, there is variation. It gets pretty hard to be very convincing about any of your results.
