What I Learned From the SOE's Sabotage Operations
The Special Operations Executive needed to know that their efforts would be hard to break. With this in mind, they staged interrogations which were designed to mimic the techniques used by the Nazis. They would storm into our quarters and take you at night, screaming in German. It was not a game. But Nor, timid, quiet, Nor, didn't give anything away. Yes, she was visibly shaken afterwards, and she almost entirely lost her voice, but she had proven that she would be a tougher nut to crack than her appearance would suggest.
