The Religious and Scientific Conflict in America

Darwin's famous book on the origin of species was published in 1859. He packaged it very carefully as a book that was compatible with Christian faith. America, throughout the 19th and 20th century, has been a mile's more religious culture than Britain. The First Amendment makes it clear there must be a separation between church and state to protect religious freedom.
