There are unmistakable elements of Indian culture that still survive across the region. If you go westwards, you don't see much of that. Indians have had a very long presence in Eastern Africa. The cuisine in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania and Somalia is very Indian. But it also has distinctive African elements.
