I was very struck by this reading over your guardian piece again and in some way your work especially in gender trouble has been sort of misunderstood for 30 years. I'm planning a fascist playbook based on its opposition to some fever dream version of your thought can you talk about your bad readers in some way over time like the fact that you've lived with misreadings of your work for so long but I'm guessing it feels a little different now. You know were I to write a new book with the title gender trouble it would probably be a very different book then right what it was back then when I had my head all wrapped around what the Americans call French theory it's a very French book yeah
