Some philosophers are considering seriously the possibility that the entire universe is being, you know, simulated during clearly several science fiction movies. The holodeck on Star Trek the next generation was exactly that. And at one point in one of these episodes Moriarty actually figures out, because he's smart, that his arch enemy is in fact a simulation. But it feels like less of an earth shaking revelation of such a thing were true.
