I think this is actually a perfect segue into some of these issues because I think your ethics and policy work really does speak to some of these questions. And you have a through line going way back in your work from your 20 time paper robots should be slaves kind of coming against this idea that we should treat artificial agents as moral patients or conceptualize them as such. But if we do at least partially sympathize with that viewpoint, then with this dance, we shouldn't develop things that are moral patients that imply a sort of limit on the capabilities we are willing to confer on or build into these.
