Introduction

John Perkins is the author of Confessions of an Economic Hitman. He worked as chief economist at a major consulting firm Charles T. Maine. His job was to arrange loans for countries with resources our corporations wanted, and then arrange a huge loan to that country from the World Bank or one of its sister organizations. The money never went to the country; instead it went to our own corporations to build big infrastructure projects on that country. And in the end, the country couldn't repay its debts.
