Electricity Is the Future
As a matter of fact so to speak the Victorian century is absolutely a steam century. But in the Victorian imagination it's increasing, the future is increasingly electrical. From as early as the 1830s people are speculating that. You'll have electrical locomotion you'll have boats crossing at the Atlantic powered by batteries. So it's an increasingly electrical future. And that fed into our imaginations electricity. I think of things like Frankenstein and such.
