We should have a healthy fear of god apart from sin and judgment. The biblical fear of god is something more than raw terror. It implies an er, not just respect and admiration, but reverence and awe. There is a joy of fearing god at the convergence of those two commands, fear the lord, but do not fear. If i'm afraid of oncoming semis every two minutes, that's not living with a grain of reality. That is a neurosis.
All our fears can be encapsulated in three words: security, life, and justification. But the Bible repeatedly tells us, “Fear not!” So how do we live without fear? In this episode, the WHI hosts consider how fear can shift from terror to trust, from law and gospel. They examine the biblical promises that undergird the commands to fear not, celebrating the comfort found in facing our fears united to Christ.
