The Effects of Air Pressure on Ears

As the plane goes up, the pressure in the cabin comes down. The volume of gas in our ears and guts increases. This leads to ear aches and a bit of extra gut gas. Air lines are aware of this problem. There are even proposals to put charcoal in seat cushions to absorb odor.
