The Relationship Between Natural Rights and Positive Rights
My primary focus in this paper will be on natural rights rather than on positive rights. Notice that I do not say that they must correspond directly to natural rights. How natural rights translate into positive rights will in many cases depend on particular historical contexts. A doctrine of natural rights can be derived from St. Thomas' doctrine of natural law, which has its basis in the concepts of human nature and the human good.
