Seron's Exorcism
Father Seron claimed he was possessed after the events. He became unable to eat, dress himself, walk, read, or write. In 1645, overcome with suicidal despair over his eternal damnation, Seron threw himself out of a Jesuit home near Bordeaux. The house was built above a river, and he landed on rocks below. Unlike fictional Father Caris, however, Seron survived the fall with a broken thigh bone.
