Gordon Moore predicted in 1965 that the number of transistors per chip was doubling every year or two. He predicted that would continue for at least a decade through 1975. We've had basically a doubling every two years on schedule from 1965 to present. There's no industry really in all of human history that's tipped up that rate of growth for so long.
