Non-valvular AFib is defined as AFib in the absence of rheumatic mitral stenosis, mechanical or a bioprostatic valve or a mitral valve repair. So for that you only get one point. The more points you have the higher your risk of an embolism whether that's a stroke or another systemic embolism. People with no points probably should not be anti-coagulated and people with two or more should be.
