The Barriers to Setting Up HTTPS on Local Hosts
For majority of instances and use cases, local hosts does actually behave like HTTPS but there are some cases in which it doesn't. A couple of front-end developers might have run into missed content errors where your page is composed of content delivered through HTTPS and content delivered through HTTP. So if you're dealing with special situations like this or use cases like this, then you definitely need to set up HTTPS on your local development.
