According to Mental Health America, 15 million people or 7% of American adults have social anxiety. It's thought that young people are actually becoming increasingly anxious. A recent research paper by Philip Jeffries and Michael Ungar entitled Social Anxiety and Young People found that levels of social anxiety may be rising among young people. Those aged 18 to 24 may be most at risk. Public health initiatives are needed to raise awareness of social anxiety,. the challenges associated with it and the means to combat it. What other people think of me is none of my business.
