Into the Breach - A Game Design Response to FTL?

A lot of the design elements in Into the Breach did come as a direct response to our experience in FTL. We basically were responding to the general opinion about the game being heavily reliant on randomized systems and we were just sort of curious how far could we push zero, at least output randomness. And so that has some similarities to how it turned out which for, again, for those who don't know, it's kind of a very focused minimalist tactical strategy game.
