The Problem With the Air Cruise

When you're fighting, particularly in that second half of 1943, you're coming back to a full concert hut and by nightfall, it could be half empty. And not only are you grieving for your mates, you're also thinking that could be for me. I think the Air Force guys are really lucky compared to aviators elsewhere. If we're in the fifth Air Force... But it's tense, isn't it? It is. The problem with the air cruise is the one minute you're flying and you're absolutely crapping yourself. Next minute you're down the local booza, throwing dust and chatting out the skirt. You've got gum, you've got chocolate.
