Introduction

The Epic of Gilgamesh is the most famous piece of writing from ancient Mesopotamia. It was discovered in 1853 and first English translation by George Smith in 1872. The story exists in dozens of different cuneiform tablets found scattered around Mesopotamia and Anatolia. In this episode I'll quote from the Andrew George translation that was published in 1999 by Penguin.
