The Value of Personhood

The fetus is not the sort of thing yet that can have experience. It doesn't warrant the concern that you would want to give a person. We care about personhood because they are the sorts of things for whom life can go better or worse. For the fetus, it is at that stage, very much equivalent to any other biological something that we don't think has the capacity or experiences that time.
