When i was a freshman in college, i took a course which was more or less, a quarter long examination of white lies and the psychological and social cost of telling them. And it really is one of the few things in my life where i can remember coming into a room n leaving the room a different person. Ever since, i've been convinced that you moralists never want to lie, except in cases where violence is appropriate. So and that you can lie in self defence. That's just to say that it's ethical.
