Is There a Lightning Model for Routing Fees?

Zerope routing is a very up front model. People pay him up front for a channel, but then it's actually zero s. So his theory is kind of like, merchants will be the ones who pay those fees. But why not use routing fees? If routing fees are baked into the platform, routing fees are a way to manifest the value that you bring in the network. I see reason to play with other models, like zero for a routing gats.
