Nell is going to do a little bit of a presentation based on her book and her research. To become that stewardess and to live this incredibly glamorous looking lifestyle was just a really aspirational job. A newspaper ad from 1961 recruited women to work for American Airlines by saying, "I'll meet my date for dinner in San Francisco" 19 applicants were rejected for everyone that they accepted. The other available jobs for mostly things like becoming a teacher or a nurse or maybe a man's secretary.
