How to Estimate How Risk Averse an Investor Is

How do you estimate how risk averse an investor is? So that's another great question. There's various ways. One game I like to play with my students in my personal finance courses is invite them to do a thought experiment where a demon turns up in your room at night and forces you to gamble with the demon. The gambling game gives you a 50% chance of winning. And if you win, now you're going to toss a coin. If it comes up heads, you get to spend 10% more throughout your life than you otherwise would have.And if you lose, if it comes up tails, you've got to spend 10%. You wish the demon would go away.
