What Is Emotional Labor?

The term "emotional labor" has been expanded to include household chores. Hochschild notes that chores are labor, but they don't necessarily require any emotional work. The key point here from a family system standpoint is the obligations are things that you have to do and may or may not include surrounding togetherness pressure.
