IFS is an internal family system that helps people deal with trauma. When we feel unsafe or out of control, we immediately go into a place of protection. We all have traumatized parts of us from childhood that we've just shut them down. And the ways that we protect ourselves from feeling that impermissible, exiled part become multiple different parts of who we are known as protectors. For instance, maybe in the moment when you're like I don't want to feel this way, get yourself going into this intellectual place above it and say what does it mean?
