The Effects of the Microenvironment on Immune Cells

The majority of natural killer cells in the uterus are not killers. They can, we can stimulate them to kill if we put them in vitro with the right cytokines. And the other subset, which is one in 10 of these cells circulating in our blood, they're actually not so good at killing,. but they're not as good as the professional killers. The microenvironment influences the cells that are there in the tissue. So also in the tumor microenvironment being a tissue, although abnormal,  there are more builders than killers with them.
