The Tories got the two-child policy very badly wrong, says Steve. It didn't change people's personal behaviour in the way that I think they expect to,. But it's also about how do you, in a modern era, not 70 years on from the end of the war of the Second World War, how do you address child poverty? Tony Blair was very helpful in hammering that point home. He said, look, the left always kind of, you know, radicalism doesn't mean more money. So they're both basically sending out a big message that there isn't going to be a lot of money. They're also trying to send out a message of thought, optimism
