Monogamy

There is a way to reassure and compliment that doesn't involve exclusivity or putting people on a pedestal. In monogamy, this creates a lot of problems for people who feel like their partners should be perfect. So i think that what would be helpful is if you both made some attempt to figure out what your ideal is.
