The Origins of the African Spirituality

Cuba is home to an African spirituality that has blended with Roman Catholicism. It started off with the Yoruba tribes and each town kind of had their own deity, right? But when they were all brought over in the slave trade, they were all kind of combined. They were not allowed to practice their spirituality because it's like your Catholic or not like mass baptism. So they disguised it as Catholicism. Now when it spread beyond Cuba and spread out to all different parts of Latin America, it took on different forms. And so that's kind of what it looks like if you've never seen it before or just heard it on a song.
