Theory is rather than eliminating reality, it's a obscuring reality. If you get inculcated in neoclassical way of thinking, and I can say from my own experience up to the halfway through first year of microeconomics at Sydney University when I was 18, I swallowed all this stuff. And what it gives you is a paradigm, as Kern put it, that lets you see the world. Galileo wrote to Kepler, one of my favorite pieces of correspondence ever, about these learner gentlemen at the university who are the percastiovanass, refused to look through the telescope. They refused to look down at neoclassical economists and know better than tall make astronomers
