We Can't Live Without Hope

Underneath the glittering image of portland hedonism is a kind of pervasive sadness, anilism over just the futility of a life where the main reason to keep going is brunch on sunday morning. We simply cannot live inside a meaningless, incoherent, random chance universe,. run by the desire to feel good in the moment until we die. And optimism does not count at our neurobiological level. It's literally your brain does not function to get you out of bed if you do not have hope.
