I don't think it can happen overnight because reason isn't just, you know, one thought after another. A person who's got a very kind of rigid ability or even an AI kind of being with a very rigid ability to sort of store information could say "stealing is wrong" That's not somebody who actually understands yet what's wrong with stealing.
