The Rise and Fall of the Yamblicus
Yamblicus hailed from Syria, and the city now called Kinesrin. He was well-born and could supposedly trace his family back to royal forebears. The Persians invaded and rampaged through the area in the year 256. Any trauma he may have experienced has left no traces in his writings. His most important was his advice about how to study Platonic philosophy.
