Your Faith Doesn't Merit Anything
The father alone is responsible for what he does when the son gets there. God doesn't owe people who have faith anything. He chooses to do so based upon his goodness and grace. In other words, your faith doesn't merit anything. It doesn't earn anything. If faith merited salvation, then there would be no need for jesus to have died.
